Dills Atlantic Giant, organic seeds

Eco Heirloom

Information

Is the real giant with a world record of more than 600 kg. Normally it yields orange-salmon-pink fruits weighing 25-30 kg. If the plant gets lots of space, care, nutrients, sun and is allowed only one fruit, weights of 100-150 kg are not unusual. The flesh is orange and tasty. A portion contains about 4 seeds.

Cultivation advice

Sowing

Seed can be sown directly outdoors when the soil is thoroughly heated (min. 15°C). If the soil is cold, the seeds don't germinate, but rot. The safest way is to first plant indoors or in a hotbed. Sow about 3 cm deep in pots with 2-4 seeds in each, approx. 4 weeks before the expected planting out. Save 1-2 seedlings (in each pot) and allow them to be quite warm, bright and airy. Gradually get them used to the cooler environment outside, and plant out when the soil is warm and the danger of frost is over. Pumpkin plants have sensitive roots, so be careful when planting.

Spacing

Between plants 50-80 cm and 90-130 cm between rows. The pumpkin is a climber and can become very large. Give it ample space!

Harvest

Harvest before frost harms the fruits. The pumpkin can be stored for several months. It is used in everything such as soups, casseroles, pies, desserts, marmalade and preserves.

Seed

3-4 seeds/g.
A portion contains about 4 seeds.
