Alexandria, organic seeds

Eco

Information

Wild strawberries that produce deep red, round, sometimes slightly pointed berries all summer and autumn. The taste is sweet and delicate. They are larger than wild strawberries, but considerably smaller than strawberries.

Alexandria stays compact, blooms with white flowers and has very few offshoots. It thrives best in the sun and on nutrient- and humus-rich soils. Should not be missing in any garden.

One portion contains about 100 seeds.

Cultivation advice

Sowing

Sow very shallowly indoors in March or April; just press the seeds into the soil. Cover to retain moisture and keep 15-20 °C. The seeds germinate in 2-4 weeks. Pot them and plant out at 30 cm distance when all risk of frost is over. It is also possible to sow directly outdoors when the soil has warmed up.

Spacing

Keep 30 cm between plants and rows.

Harvest

The sweet Wild Strawberry taste only develops just before the fruit reaches full maturity, so do not pick too early.

Seed

1 g is about 3000 seeds. Normal germination rate is 50-75%.
A portion has about 100 seeds.
