Origanum majorana belongs to the Labiate family and is originally from India and now it grows wild around the whole Mediterranean where it is a much appreciated plant since at least 3000 years. In ancient Greece it was the herb of joy and happiness. It is a perennial short half-bush but is usually grown as an annual because of poor hardiness.
