Information
Cnicus benedictus, is an annual member of the Composite family and it has been honoured for centuries as a panacea for increased well-being. Leaves, flowers and roots are used. The blessed thistle grows up to become a grand plant of 60-70 cm, many branches with red stalks in contrast to the lime-green deep cut leaves with soft thorns. The flower which blooms from July to September is bristly reddish with lemon-yellow centre. Sow directly outdoors in May or pre-cultivate and set out when the risk of frost is over! Keep at least 50 cm between the plants! About 30 seeds/g, one portion yields at least 20 seedlings.
One portion contains about 30 seeds.
