Information
This old Swiss lettuce is a robust and hardy medium-season head lettuce with strong, yet brittle, slightly dented bronze-edged leaves around a large loose rosette of leaves. The head is somewhat upright and is referred to by some as a coss lettuce. Compared to several other more colorful lettuces, Grasses de Morge's color scheme appears a little more modest, but still attractive with its shiny, healthy leaves.
A portion contains about 250 seeds.

Cultivation advice
Sowing
Sow thinly, about 0.5 cm deep. The seeds need light and a temperature below 18 °C to germinate. Higher temperatures result in slow and weak germination.Lettuce can be started very early in a greenhouse (soil temperature at least 5 °C), or sown indoors or in a cold frame 3–5 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Gradually harden off the plants. Plant them shallowly and water well. Once hardened, most varieties tolerate several degrees of frost.
Direct sowing can be done as soon as the soil can be worked. If the soil is dry, water the seed row before sowing, this also helps lower the temperature during midsummer sowing. To have fresh lettuce throughout summer and autumn, sow in succession or use several varieties with different maturity times. Late autumn sowing for overwintering can also succeed even in northern regions.
Spacing
Thin out early! 15-30 between plants and 35-50 cm between the rows.Harvest
Pick lettuce as the leaves grow or as a full-grown plant.Seed
800-1000 seeds/g5 g for 100 m if sowing directly and 20 g yield seedlings for 1000 m2. 50-100 g sows 1000 m2 directly.
