Information
Buckwheat covers an area incredibly quickly and is a beautiful green manure plant that attracts pollinators. Cut it off before it has time to develop seeds or sow it late and let it freeze.Buckwheat grows densely and effectively smothers weeds, is good on nutrient-poor light soils. Mix it with other green manure plants such as honeysuckle. Self-seeds easily.
The buckwheat you find with us comes from Wermlands Bovete, which for many years has cultivated and maintained its own seed variety on their farm outside Molkom in Värmland.
One portion contains about 85 gram of seeds.
The green parts of the buckwheat plant are unsuitable as animal feed due to high levels of fagopyrin, which causes photosensitivity. However, shelled seeds are safe to use both for personal consumption and in feed.
