Cultivation advice
Sowing
Sow 2–3 cm deep outdoors once the soil has warmed to about 15 °C in May/June. Germination may take slightly longer outdoors. They can also be started indoors in April.
Spacing
Keep 30-40 cm between plants and 40-60 cm between rows.Harvest
Harvest when the pods are no more than 4 cm long, preferably 2–3 cm, for the best flavor and texture. If you miss the right harvest time, the peas inside the pods can be boiled and eaten, but they are not as sweet as regular peas. Some say the peas can be roasted and used as a coffee substitute, but we haven’t tried that ourselves.
