Information
Also known as Medicinal Rudbeckia. This beautiful special flower has really been around for a long time as a culture and medicinal plant. Not traditional here but originates from eastern North America. Now, however, it is well known as one of the foremost medicinal plants and is used primarily to strengthen the immune system and speed up recovery from colds. The root has cortisone-like properties and can be used to heal wounds that are difficult to heal.
In addition to an obvious place in the medicinal garden, it is beautiful in flowerbeds. Its original habitat was the steppe in North America and it may be good to keep this in mind when you want to place the coneflower in your garden. A sunny, well-drained location makes it feel best. Blooms with its downward-hanging pale purple petals on stems about 90 cm high for a long time in the summer. Great to combine with, for example, taller grasses, ball thistles and blood tops.
A portion contains about 100 seeds.
