Information
This wild pansy, also called Heartsease, blooms profusely in a variety of shades. One plant may produce flowers in violet and yellow with a small white center, while another might get predominantly blue-violet and white flowers with a yellow center. Anna forms a compact, bushy plant about 20 cm tall and blooms generously all the way until frost sets in. Some plants may even continue blooming until they’re covered by snow. Its only requirement is that it must never dry out, as this will halt blooming. The small seeds germinate in late summer or fall, growing into plants that flower from April onwards. When sown in spring, stratification may be needed to stimulate seed germination. Do not cover the seeds excessively when sowing, since they require light for germinating. The wild pansy is typically considered an annual, but with a protective winter covering, it can become biennial or even perennial. Annual–Perennial.
