Days to maturity

The "days to maturity" stated next to a sort refers to how long it takes for a seed or plant to reach maturity after sowing or setting out in a plot outdoors, under optimal conditions. Perfect weather during the whole season is, however, a rarity. Therefore, the number of days merely shows how early a sort is compared to others, and not the exact harvest time.

We have grown and compared almost all the varieties for several years, both in north and south. Since 1976, we have test cultivated new and old varieties every year and selected a range to suit our climate and way of growing vegetables and flowers. We sometimes also get help with this evaluation of unknown varieties by friends and clients, who grow organically in other climatic zones.
