CULTIVATION OF SPRING ONIONS SEEDS
Select the best specimens and allow them to remain in their well-drained plot during winter. Cover with hay or straw or earth up if the winters are cold. The seeds ripen earlier than in the onion or leek. Read further about seed cultivation under "Yellow onion and leek".
Spring onions are biannual or perennial and cross-fertilize with other kinds of spring onion but not with yellow onion, leek and chives, one exception is White Lisbon, which is a species of yellow onion.
