Cos Lettuce
Lactuca sativa var. longifoliaCos lettuce has been given many names in Sweden. It is called Roman or Romanesque as well as Binding lettuce. Cos lettuce is the original name and that name is used in most of the world. C. is named for the Greek island of Kos, where this kind of lettuce was grown already in ancient times. It is the most commonly cultivated kind of lettuce, globally, and the best tasting one as well according to lots of people. Cos lettuce is easy to grow, sound and undemanding and yields a high-built head. The upright-growing leaves are oblong with a big, crispy nerve in the centre of the leaf.
