Alpine Poppy

Papaver alpinum

It comes from the Alps and the Carpathians, is 15-20 cm tall and suitable for rock-gardens, among other places, with grey-green compact leafage. It has sweet flowers of mixed, clear colours in June-July. Alpinum thrives in poor,well-drained soil in the sun. Sow directly in the ground, 25 cm between the plants. One portion has about 500 seeds and yields several hundred seedlings.
