Jersey Wakefield

Brassica oleracea var. conica

This conical cabbage is an early form of white cabbage, which can be set closer together because of the smaller outer leaves. It is ready for harvest among the earliest and yields a tender head of excellent quality. The conical head weighs 1 "“ 1.5 kg (1-3 lbs.) with lots of flavour. Jersey Wakefield was described already in 1726 and is still one of the most cultivated sorts. It is an easy to grow and hardy cabbage, which can remain in the plot ready for harvest without cracking for longer than summer cabbage can. A portion contains about 300 seeds.
