Lactuca sativa var. capitata crispum
Is a Batavia that can be likened to a wonderful mixture of crisp perpetual lettuce and a small firm iceberg lettuce. The leaves are thick, crumpled, glossy, clear green, mild and juicy. Anuenue, coming from Hawaii, where the name means rainbow, is easy to grow, hardy and adapts itself well to our climate in spring as well as summer and autumn. A portion has about 300 seeds.
