Sunflower
Helianthus annusis a composite annual originally from South- and North America, a well-known plant of large flowers. It is suitable for tall beds and borders or as shelter against the wind, long-lasting green manure, bird feed and climbing frame for peas, cut flowers etc. S. wants a soil rich in nutrients and in a sunny place.
SOWING: Sow 1-2 cm deep in April-May directly outdoors, once the soil has got warm. Or do it indoors in March-April and set out after the risk of frost is over. Keep 25-30 cm between the plants.
SEEDS: 1 g contains 15-40 seeds depending on variety.
